Tim Curry as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island
Long John Silver is a duplicitous but smooth-talking pirate posing as a chef, who mentors Jim until he is overheard by Gonzo, Rizzo and Jim, which proves Smollett's suspicions of the crew being of shady character correct. Tim Curry's voice as Long John Silver is booming and thunderous. His performance is straightforward, theatrical and whimsical. He based his voice on his grandfather and he has a West Country accent which makes sense because after all, Silver is a pirate. There's nothing wrong with the voice, but when he sings, it sounds like Tim Curry's natural voice which is very weird. I think it would be better if Tim Curry does his Silver voice when he's singing and speaking or if Disney hired a guy to imitate Tim Curry's voice as Silver when dubbing Tim Curry's singing. All voice actors who have wide vocal ranges and multiple vocal registers should use that voice as inspiration for their characters' voices. For instance, Scott McNeil for his voice as Clang in Bugs Bunny's Springtime Stories and Garry Chalk for his voice as Izzy in Joker & Friends: The Story of James. Tim Curry's role in Muppet Treasure Island is one of his favorite movies he worked on. The male members of Monty Python Junior, the acting troupe I'm creating, will try to impersonate the voice.
